Tawazun, the strategic investment firm devoted to the development of U.A.E.’s industrial sector with a focus on defence manufacturing, has succeeded in highlighting U.A.E.’s advanced defence manufacturing initiatives and products at Eurosatory, the world’s largest exhibition of Land and Air-land Defence and Security, which took place from 16th to 20th June 2014 in Paris.

“Today, U.A.E. companies are able to penetrate the world’s different markets and to compete with major global corporations. This was made clear by their strong presence and products at the exhibition and by the statements made by the visitors of the U.A.E. pavilion at Eurosatory,” Saif Mohamed Al Hajeri, Chief Executive officer of Tawazun, who led the company’s delegation at the show, said in statements to WAM.

Participation in global exhibitions is important for U.A.E. and its companies, which were brought together at one national pavilion at Eurosatory, Al Hajeri noted adding that U.A.E.’s message is that it has advanced defence industry and that its companies are ambitious to enter global markets.

Two U.A.E.-made Nimr vehicles, manufactured by Nimr Automotive are on display, and one of them is taking part in the daily live demonstrations outdoors at Eurosatory which represents an excellent opportunity for Tawazun and U.A.E. companies to present their innovative and highly advanced defence and homeland security solutions to the world.

Nimr s multi-purpose vehicles have a wide spectrum of applications ranging from tactical missions in harsh arid environments to modern urban warfare, deep infiltration missions, reconnaissance, border surveillance, support logistics and riot control. Nimr vehicles can be employed in different situational scenarios, including as an armament carrier, logistics vehicle, ambulance, or a mobile Command and Control center.

Among the Tawazun Holding debutants at the show is Tawazun Dynamics, a joint venture between Tawazun Holding and the Dynamics division of South Africa s largest defence manufacturer, Denel.

Tawazun Dynamics, a member of Tawazun Group, operates from its Abu Dhabi-based facility for the development, manufacture, assembly and integration of precision-guided systems for conventional air munitions.

Also on display at Eurosatory is Tawazun’s Al Tariq, a family of strap-on bomb kit systems, custom made for Mk81, Mk82 and Mk83 bombs. Expertly utilising GPS/INS guidance, increased targeting accuracy by utilising Semi Active Laser or Imaging Infrared seekers. Al Tariq provides users with all weather, day/night operational capabilities.

“All our visitors (to our pavilion at Eurosatory) were surprised to know that we have this industry and these products in U.A.E. We confirmed to them that the defence equipment they saw and admired is being made by Emiratis. The most important thing for us is the investment in human capital as these industries would not have been there without Emiratis. This is the message we in U.A.E. want to get across to the rest of the world ,” Al Hajeri added.
