Tawazun Holding, the Abu Dhabi strategic investment firm, confirmed its participation in the 5th edition of Abu Dhabi Science Festival (ADSF) to be held under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

More than 1,000 science guides and 13 UAE universities will take part in the event, which will run from 12 to 21 November at Mushrif Central Park in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Yehya Mohamed Al Marzouqi, the Executive Director of Tawazun’s Project Management Office, stressed the importance of the festival in encouraging the UAE youth to keep pace with science and technology, adding that Tawazun is keen to support the UAE’s efforts to develop national cadres capable of realising the wise leadership’s vision of building a knowledge-based economy.

“Our participation in ADSF 2015 aims at encouraging young generations in UAE to join scientific and technological specialities to cater for our country’s need in the coming phase. The local labour market is in an urgent need for such specialities, especially in light of the government’s expanding activities in the energy, technology, space and other scientific fields.” Al Marzouqi said.

He further stressed the importance of reinforcing the education system with the necessary expertise to meet the requirements of the labour market and contribute to the UAE leadership’s wise vision of building a knowledge-based economy.

“Our world and life have become more dependent on technology; and we are proudly playing our part in shaping and supporting the future of technology in our country and creating job opportunities for the next generation.” Al Marzouqi noted.

ADSF, an initiative by the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC), aims to spark a passion for science and innovation in kids from 5-15 years and inspire the future generation of scientists. The event’s shows, workshops and interactive displays are intended to encourage exploration and knowledge.
