Tawazun Holding, and the University of Tokyo (UTokyo), the first national university in Japan, have entered into agreement for joint collaboration and research and technology.

His Excellency Saif Mohamed Al Hajeri, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun, and Professor Masatoshi Ishikawa, Dean of the UTokyo’s Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, signed the agreement in Tokyo on Tuesday.

The agreement was facilitated by the Emirates Japan marketing council (EJMC), as part of its service to Tawazun.

Under the agreement, Tawazun and Utokyo will cooperate on identifying collaborative opportunities in the fields of technology projects presented by Ishikawa labs of Utokyo including robotics, optronics, advanced material and energy.

It also paves the way for further cooperation between research laboratories in academic and industrial fields.

Commenting on the agreement, HE Saif Al Hajeri said; “We are very glad to have a partner in University of Tokyo – one of the world’s leading research universities in the fields of science and technology and we look forward to benefiting from their extensive experience and advanced programs.”

“This agreement is largely important to us as it lays the foundations for a strong and sustainable partnership, as well as development of joint education and training programs both in the UAE and Japan,” he added.

“It is great honor for us to collaborate with Tawazun based on the strong partnership for making new technology fields and applications in UAE. In addition, we hope the joint education programs encourage top researchers to open new technology,” said Professor Ishikawa.

Fahed Al Aabsi, Chairman of the EJMC, UAE Chapter, said: “We are extremely delighted to bring about this historic collaboration between Tawazun Holding, UAE’s primary technology driver and University of Tokyo, the world’s leading science and technology developer.”

“The agreement represents a significant milestone for EJMC, demonstrating the outstanding progress that has been made by the council in a very short space of time. It further illustrates the level of trust that we have built with our customers and the ongoing commitment from our partners to build this capability for the benefit of both nations,” he added.

Since its establishment in 2007, Tawazun Holding has attached great importance to building capabilities and enhancing skills and experiences of the Emiratis through a host of programs, implemented in collaboration with the leading UAE and international academic institutions.

Tawazun itself has a division – Tawazun Training Center – dedicated for education and training in the fields of technical, engineering, postgraduate development and general competencies. The Center has successful cooperation with world-class academic institutions

The University of Tokyo was established in 1877 as the first national university in Japan. Utokyo offers courses in essentially all academic disciplines at both undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research across the full spectrum of academic activity.
