H.E Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan paid an official working visit to the Tawazun stand at IDEX 2017. He was received by H.E Saif Mohamed Al Hajiri, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun Economic Council and Tawazun Holding, who gave the visiting delegation a high-level tour of the stand and a brief introduction to Tawazun, its services and mandate.
The president was accompanied by a senior delegation from the Tatarstan Government who showed great interest in Tawazun, its subsidiaries and successful track record of linking international companies, in a variety of fields, with local entities to promote cooperation and establish dynamic partnerships for the mutual benefit of both parties.
H.E Al Hajeri gave an overall view of each of the Tawazun subsidiaries explaining their capabilities, functions and benefits. He then went on to explain the role of Tawazun within the defence industry in the UAE and how this supports the diversification of the UAE economy. H.E Al Hajiri also explained the significant role that Tawazun plays, in terms of encouraging private sector companies to specialize in this sector, as Tawazun’s activities are not limited to government partnerships only. The two stressed on future cooperation in the defense industry between both sides.
President Minnikhanov, who is a regular visitor to the UAE, discussed with Tawazun ways of future cooperation and possible synergies between the requirements of the Republic of Tatarstan and the UAE in fields specific to Tawazun’s industrial and manufacturing sector.
Tatarstan, capital city Kazan, is a rapidly developing region, with its success based on a solid foundation of economic stability. The republic is an oil and petrochemical producing center that also manufactures KAMAZ heavy-duty trucks and Mi helicopters.
As a meeting point of civilizations, Tatarstan is a symbolic crossroads between East and West. With an interesting blend of Asian and European religious and cultural traditions, Tatarstan has accumulated extensive experience in maintaining inter-ethnic and inter-faith accord. This experience serves as a perfect background for the republic to develop its contacts within the Middle East and to build trade, scientific and cultural links.
